The "Young Eagles" held their own reasonably well (and by "reasonably well," we mean in the context of the Americans having beaten every opponent by 40-50 points throughout the tournament) in the first and second quarters. However, they faltered in the third, allowing the USA's cadet "dream team" to build a significant, insurmountable lead.

Serbia's coach, Stevan Mijović, tried to rouse his players during timeouts, but to no avail. Simply put, the Americans possess superior quality, which explains why the USA cadet team has an undefeated record in its history.

Coach Mijović was particularly exasperated during a timeout he called immediately after the Americans extended their lead to 24 points.

"It's alright, boys. Come on, nothing's lost yet. But we're playing like absolute garbage, we're playing like cowards. We've gotten scared, we've backed down... Let's fight!" - Stevan Mijović

"Young Eagles" roar "Bože pravde" before the match begins

Before the final showdown, a truly beautiful scene unfolded, showcasing the pride the "Young Eagles" felt for their achievement; all Serbian national team players sang the anthem "Bože pravde" in unison, once again confirming their deep love for their country.

It's worth remembering that Serbia had a rough start to the World Championship, losing to Australia in the first round, but then began to string together victories. In the knockout stage, the "Young Eagles" first defeated New Zealand, then Lithuania, before celebrating a semi-final win against Turkey.

This propelled them to the grand final and a clash with the United States national team, a squad that has never suffered a defeat in its history.

Specifically in this World Championship, the Americans had been crushing everyone by roughly 40-50 points. France, Japan, Italy, Cameroon, Puerto Rico, Australia – all received a thrashing. The French fared the best, losing by "only" 31 points. They reached the final by dismantling Australia 114:65, while Serbia edged out Turkey 76:71.
