Yamal Receives Another Award, Cites Messi as Role Model

Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal has named club legend and current Inter Miami forward Lionel Messi as his role model. Yamal made the statement during the Laureus Awards ceremony, where he was honored as the best young athlete.

"When you realize an athlete is a legend not just in their sport, but across all sports, it's because they are the best. Messi is a prime example of this. He is the greatest footballer in history, and also the best athlete, or at least one of the best. He's not just another idol. Everyone respects him for everything he has achieved, for the example he sets, and I hope to follow in his footsteps," Yamal commented.

The Spanish international is often compared by Barcelona fans to Messi, who won every possible trophy with the 'Blaugrana' and became a club legend before moving to Paris Saint-Germain in 2021.
