Sunderland and Switzerland captain Granit Xhaka's potential move to Chelsea is off the table. The Black Cats have no intention of parting ways with their skipper, declaring him not for sale. The club rejected an £8 million bid from Chelsea last month.

Xhaka had initially considered the prospect of playing under Xabi Alonso, following their successful spell together at Bayer Leverkusen. However, after discussions with Sunderland's management, he has decided to remain with the club. The team's qualification for European competition after an excellent past season was a decisive factor in his decision. The 33-year-old midfielder is under contract until 2028.
