2. Press Conference: One million tons of cold storage [12:45]
Speakers at this session are Agnes Matilda Kalibata, Oliver Cann, Gerardine Mukeshimana and Jaidev R. Shroff. Almost half of the food grown in Africa is lost to waste because of lack of the appropriate preservation and transportation infrastructure. African and global organizations are planning to build a million tons of cold storage facilities.
3. Growth in Africa: Rising or Falling? [13:00]
Speakers at this session are Uhuru Kenyatta, Frannie Léautier, Winnie Byanyima, Tony O. Elumelu and David A. Lipton who discuss the topic ‘Economic Growth and Social Inclusion’.
They also address macroeconomic outlook under pressure, advances in industry development and meeting the needs of a rising youth population as well as how the growth landscape is changing across the continent.
4. Transforming the Digital Marketplace
Speakers at this session are Elizabeth Migwalla, Siyabonga Cwele, Tobias Becker, Pascal Lamy, Bruno Nabagné Koné and Charles Muritu, discussing the topic ‘Future of the Internet’.
They also address issues such as fostering online entrepreneurs, enabling cross-border data exchange and overcoming traditional barriers to trade as well as how the use of technology is transforming Africa's digital marketplace.
5. Press Conference: How can Africa develop healthcare systems that are both efficient and cost-effective?
Speakers at this panel are Arnaud Bernaert, Ahmed Sheikh Mohamed, Farouk Shamas Jiwa and Maxwell Hall. While Africa bears 24% of global disease burden, she represents less than 1% of global health expenditure.
These experts from across the public and private sectors share ideas and insights on how Africa can outperform advanced healthcare systems by creating innovative and adaptive systems based on modern innovations.
6. Future of Production [14.30]
Speakers at this event are Ally Angula, Nancy Kacungira, Johan C. Aurik, Geoffrey Qhena and Hailemariam Dessalegn, discussing Manufacturing, Business, advancement of new manufacturing technologies, facilitating home-grown innovations, up-skilling for a digitized world. Speakers at this panel are Jennifer Blanke, Oliver Cann, Gilbert Fossoun Houngbo and Winnie Byanyima, discussing the latest thinking on how to address and overcome income inequality in afrca as the levels of inequality in the continent is among the highest in the world. The speakers at this session are Louise Mushikiwabo, Paul Kagame, Howard Buffett and Tony Blair, discussing infrastructure long-term investing and development in an intense conversation on partnerships and doing business in Africa.
9. Press Conference: Girls in Space! [16:15]
Judi Sandrock speaks on gender parity and technology in Africa. MEDO SPACE, an Africa-based social enterprise aims to equip school girls in Africa with the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) skills that they need to compete and thrive in our digital future.
10. How can we combat cyber-crime in Africa? [17:00]
Speakers at the session are Noboru Nakatani, Bruno Nabagné Koné, Maxwell Hall, Jean-Luc Vez and Larry Stone, discussing the topic ‘Future of the Internet’
The global economy loses roughly $445m a year through cybercrime. Leaders from across public and private sectors and in law enforcement share insights on how to tackle this menace.
