International Friendlies: Nigeria Fall To USA, Honduras Holds England To A Goalless Draw
Brazil 2014 Finalists Wrap Up Friendlies On Saturday and Sunday
Japan vs. Zambia:
Japan fought it well to avoid a 2-0 defeat in the hands of African team Zambia.
2012 African Nations Champions Zambia gave the current Asian champions a frightful fight in Tampa, Florida, venue of the match as they led 2-0, before Japan came back from the shadows to win 4-3.
The Japanese were 2-0 behind during the first half, having conceded a close-range header from captain ChristopherKatongo and an intelligent 20-yard strike from NathanSinkala. The Asians cut the lead by one through KeisukeHonda's spot kick conversion before Shinji Kagawa leveled at 2-2. Honda scored another in the second half, which was cancelled by a LubamboMusanda strike from 25 yard outside the box.
Japan showed great enthusiasm for the winning goal and it came in the last gasp from the boots of YoshitoOkubo who finished the gaame for Japan.
Croatia v. Australia
These two Brazil 2014 finalist were heading to a goalless draw just before NikicaJelavic struck in the 58th minute to shoot NikoKovac's men into Brazil on a clean sheet.
Greece v Bolivia:
Having played a goalless draw with the Nigerian team last Wednesday, the Greek team defeated Bolivia 2-1 in their last warm up before the World Cup. the goals came from Panagiotis Kone and KostasKatsouranis; RudyCardozo pulled one back for Bolivia.
Colombia v Jordan:
Without the star striker, Colombia hammered Jordan 3-0 in the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires; the goals came from two penalty conversions by JamesRodriguez and JuanCuadrado, then a 30 yard strike by FredyGuarin.
Portugal v. Mexico
Mexico continued their loss streak after loosing 1-2 to Bosnia, the eltricolors again lost 0-1 to Portugal in Foxborough through a BrunoAlves header late in the game. Mexico's last friendly win was against Ecuador 3-0: Portugal play a last warm up friendly against Ireland on Tuesday.
Ireland v Costa Rica:
Portugal's next opponent could only manage a 1-1 draw with their Central American friends. Costa Rica had a man sent off, Ireland Captain KevinDoyle who had put the Irish ahead from a header was brushed off by GiancarloGonzalez, leaving him blood faced four minutes before end of 90 minutes; Robbie Keane missed a penalty for Ireland.
