Maximilian Wober had cancelled the opener for the hosts by the excellent Baku but Nmecha's stunning strike on the hour mark ensured the home side revived their campaign with a decisive win.

Baku was named official man of the match winner at the end of the game, but it was Nmecha who netted the decisive goal that sealed all three points and put an end to Wolfsburg's run of four Champions League matches without a win.

His goal was a beauty, he controlled a lovely lofted pass from Arnold on his chest and into the box before letting fly past a helpless Kohn in goal for Salzburg.

They held on for the victory at the end which the Nigerian born forward says has given them their confidence back.

"This win means a lot to us. I don’t know why, but we have our confidence back. Salzburg had chances at the end, but I never had the sense that they would score again," he told UEFA.

The 22-year-old has now scored two goals in just two starts in the Champions League this season.
