Edin Avdić was born in Sarajevo in 1979, a year etched in gold in the city's basketball history. It was then that local club KK Bosna became European champions, led by the legendary Bogdan Tanjević and Mirza Delibašić. Destined for a life intertwined with the sport, Edin began his basketball journey at Bosna. He played as a shooting guard through the youth ranks, but upon joining the senior team, his exceptional court vision and basketball IQ transformed him into a formidable point guard.

However, after some time, he decided to hang up his sneakers and focus on his education. He enrolled in and successfully completed the Faculty of Political Sciences in Sarajevo, majoring in journalism, a path that would open doors to an entirely new career.

Early Television Career and Iconic Calls

He began his journalistic career at Federalna Televizija (FTV) before quickly moving to OBN, where his career truly took off. At OBN, he established himself as a passionate and incredibly knowledgeable commentator, bringing NBA league broadcasts and Bosnia and Herzegovina national team games to viewers with unprecedented energy.

From this period stems one of the most famous moments in regional sports journalism history. During a EuroBasket 2013 game between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Lithuania, when Mirza Teletović hit an incredible three-pointer from almost nine meters, Edin, in a state of pure ecstasy, famously exclaimed:

Mirza from the parking lot... Bravo, maestro, you're insane! This phrase instantly became part of the everyday lexicon for basketball fans across the Balkans.

The Dynamic Duo at Arena Sport and Kecman's Buzzer-Beater

Edin Avdić reached the pinnacle of his popularity after moving to Arena Sport television. There, he formed an unforgettable commentary duo with his colleague Nenad Kostić. The two became synonymous with NBA, Endesa League, and regional ABA League broadcasts. Their style – a perfect blend of deep expert analysis, relaxed humor, and genuine emotion – attracted even those who weren't primarily basketball followers.

One of the emotional highlights of their shared career occurred on April 25, 2009, in Zagreb. When Dušan Kecman sank a historic three-pointer from three-quarters court to win the ABA League final for Partizan against Cibona (with just 0.6 seconds left), Edin and Nenad's shouts of delight and utter shock became legendary in TV broadcasting.

Analyst, Columnist, and Podcast Visionary

Beyond his commentary work, Edin was recognized for years for his exceptional, detailed articles and columns (such as those on the Mondo portal), where he uniquely dissected the tactics, history, and psychology of basketball.

In recent years, Edin achieved immense success with his podcast "X&O's chat" (later also known for its collaboration with "Sportlight"). This format became essential listening for all basketball fanatics in the Balkans. Thanks to the immense respect he commanded in basketball circles, he managed to host the biggest names in European and world basketball, including:

Željko Obradović (the most decorated European coach), Nikola Jokić (NBA MVP), Miloš Teodosić, Vassilis Spanoulis, Ettore Messina, Žarko Paspalj, Bogdan Bogdanović, and many others.

Edin Avdić is rightly considered not just a commentator, but a living encyclopedia of basketball and a man whose voice defined the modern era of the sport in the former Yugoslavia.
