The new Whatsapp update is a breath of fresh air in many ways considering that most of the app's past updates have been mostly disappointing.

Whatsapp has finally received a ‘Material Design’ refurbishment on the Android platform and now considerably better than the previous versions.

The update is not available on Google Play yet so users will need to install the new update directly off Whatsapp’s site to see the changes.

The new Whatsapp 2.12.38 update features a deep green title bar with the three tabs for calls, chats and contacts all merged into one. Users will notice new buttons in the chat windows to record voice messages as well as in the attachment pop-up option.

The media selection screens for sharing photos and videos, as well as the Settings menu now looks better than on all the previous versions.

A few design changes and animations are different on some devices so it’s likely that Whatsapp is still working on rolling out all of its visual updates.
