Pirelli, Formula 1's official tire supplier, has virtually guaranteed that today's Belgian Grand Prix will feature a single pit stop, provided there's no rain at Spa.
Data collected by the Italian company during free practice sessions in the Ardennes indicates that all three dry tire compounds are suitable for the race in various combinations. However, Pirelli believes the optimal strategy for covering the 44-lap distance on the calendar's longest track is to start on the medium compound, running for 17 to 23 laps, before switching to hard slicks for the remainder of the race.
Regarding available tires for the race, only Alpine, Audi, and Cadillac drivers have just one set of hard slicks, while all other teams have two. For Audi and Cadillac, this comes at the expense of an additional set of medium compound tires, whereas Alpine has taken the most aggressive approach, opting for more soft tires for the race.
The Belgian Grand Prix, the tenth round of the 2026 Formula 1 season, kicks off at 4:00 PM Bulgarian time and can be followed live on Sportal.bg.
