"What Happened to Jokić?!" The Serbian Star Becomes the Talk of the NBA — for All the Wrong Reasons /VIDEO/

Oklahoma City kicked off the season with a home victory in a Western Conference showdown against the Denver Nuggets (96-84), but a day later, the basketball world is still stunned by uncharacteristically poor shooting nights from superstars Nikola Jokić and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Oklahoma City managed to turn the game around in the second half, handing the Nuggets a defeat on opening night. Nikola Jokić was unable to prevent Denver's loss, finishing the contest with 13 points, seven rebounds, and five assists. He shot an uncharacteristic 5-of-19 from the field, including just 1-of-7 from beyond the arc. In his 34 minutes on the court, Denver was outscored by 20 points, leaving him with an eye-popping -20 in the plus/minus column.

Highlighting just how shocking the performance was to basketball fans, one social media account compiled all of the Serbian center's misses from the matchup:

Aaron Gordon paced the Nuggets with 20 points, while DeMar DeRozan matched Jokić with 13. Denver controlled the tempo for most of the first half, but they were unable to maintain their grip on the game down the stretch.

Social media was quickly flooded with clips showing Jokić repeatedly barrelling into opposing defenders and knocking them down like bowling pins, which Oklahoma City punished with rapid fast breaks.

Still, Jokić wouldn't be Jokić without dishing out a handful of brilliant assists, even on a night where his shot wasn't falling.

Jalen Williams spearheaded Oklahoma City's triumph with 21 points, while Chet Holmgren delivered a dominant double-double performance, racking up 12 points and hauling down 17 rebounds.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's outing was equally striking, as he suffered through one of his worst shooting slumps in recent memory. The two-time consecutive NBA MVP wrapped up the night with 17 points, making just 6 of his 19 attempts from the floor.

The off night brought an end to his incredible streak of 140 consecutive games scoring at least 20 points.

The Canadian guard missed all seven of his field goal attempts in the opening half, with a pair of made free throws narrowly saving him from going scoreless in the first 24 minutes for the first time since his 2019 rookie campaign with the Los Angeles Clippers.

It marked just the fourth time across 450 appearances in an Oklahoma City uniform that Gilgeous-Alexander failed to hit a single field goal in a half.
