Despite other names, including Partizan, being mentioned, it seemed from the outset that the Georgian basketball player would make the move he did, heading to Dubai to reunite with coach Xavi Pascual, who previously coached him at Barcelona. Spanish media had reported on this in recent days, and now it's official.

The club from the United Arab Emirates has officially announced the signing of one of EuroLeague's most dominant power forwards.

Dubai Basketball Club has bolstered its frontcourt for the 2026/27 season with the acquisition of Georgian international Tornike Shengelia. The experienced power forward joins the team after a season with FC Barcelona, bringing over a decade of EuroLeague experience to Dubai as he embarks on a new chapter in his career.

Last season, Shengelia averaged 12.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game, and there's no doubt he will be a massive, pivotal reinforcement for Dubai. This is especially true given that Pascual and he already know each other well, evidenced by their desire to continue their collaboration beyond their time at Blaugrana.

He is officially the 20th player under contract with the Arab club.
