The race, held on the streets of Washington, is part of the celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of the United United States. Its staging was personally ordered by Donald Trump via presidential decree earlier this year.

The 2.7-kilometer track, featuring seven turns, winds past some of Washington's major landmarks. The race itself will span a total of 147 laps.
