Waived NBA Player Lashes Out at Michael Jordan, LeBron James, and Stephen Curry
After being informed of the Chicago Bulls' decision to waive him following several homophobic comments, Jaden Ivey released a 34-minute video, challenging the club and name-dropping basketball legends like Michael Jordan, Stephen Curry, and LeBron James.
“They said my conduct is detrimental to the team,” Ivey stated in the Instagram video. “I haven't been with the team. I haven't been with the team because I've been in rehab. So, how is my conduct detrimental to the team?”
Ivey directed his frustration towards Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry: “And you all believe he's a Christian?” he questioned, before referencing two other legends: “Those things won't matter on judgment day, all those rings he has, all those rings LeBron James has, all the rings Michael Jordan has.”
The American further explained how he felt like a sinner when he entered the league in 2022 as the fifth pick in that year's NBA Draft: “Before I converted to the Lord Jesus Christ, the NBA was everything to me. I didn't know God. I didn't know Jesus. When I got to the NBA, I was a fake, addicted to pornography, and used to drink until I passed out. That's all I knew.”
The 24-year-old player downplayed the NBA's importance in his life, stating he's prepared to move on without the league: “If God wills it, he will give me the opportunity to play again.”
