Villarreal is reportedly in talks with Real Madrid regarding a potential summer transfer for Spanish midfielder Dani Ceballos. The 29-year-old was linked with a move away from the Bernabéu last year but ultimately remained with Los Blancos for the current campaign, making 22 appearances. His contract runs until the end of the 2026/27 season, but a club change is anticipated this summer.
According to Spanish media, Villarreal has already initiated discussions with Real Madrid's management concerning Ceballos. The "Yellow Submarine" reportedly believes the Spaniard's "technical profile" is an ideal fit for their midfield. Ceballos himself has reportedly accepted that he will need to leave the Bernabéu this summer to revitalize his career.
Villarreal's interest is intensifying as Marcelino's side is aware that several other clubs are also vying for his signature.
Ceballos began his professional career at Real Betis, where he played 105 matches before joining Real Madrid in 2017. The Spaniard has scored 7 goals and provided 16 assists in 214 appearances for Los Blancos. During his tenure at the Bernabéu, he also had a loan spell at Arsenal, representing the Gunners in 77 games across all competitions.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid is expected to sign a new central midfielder, with Manchester City's Rodri and Lille's Ayyoub Bouaddi reportedly among their primary targets.
