Hart has been selected to succeed Gianpiero Lambiase, whose duties are being gradually phased down ahead of his prospective move to McLaren, which could take effect at the end of the year.

Verstappen will work directly with Hart at three of the remaining six rounds this season – the United States, São Paulo, and Las Vegas Grands Prix.

Lambiase will handle his usual trackside duties in Mexico City, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi. For the other three events, he will still be on site in his role as Head of Race Engineering, serving as Red Bull's third most senior figure behind Team Principal Laurent Mekies and Technical Director Pierre Waché.

Who is Tom Hart?

Hart was originally slated to join Williams in a senior role alongside Alex Albon. However, following the April announcement that Lambiase would eventually join McLaren, Hart was able to terminate his Williams contract and remain with Red Bull.

Hart's Red Bull career began in July 2012 as an engineering intern. From November 2014 to December 2019, he served as a simulator performance engineer.

In January 2020, Hart was promoted to performance engineer, working closely with Lambiase in support of the Dutch driver ever since.

Hart will become only the third race engineer Verstappen has had at Red Bull. Previously, Daniel Ricciardo's former engineer Simon Rennie took over the radio duties for two races in 2025 when Lambiase missed the Austrian and Belgian Grands Prix.
