Verstappen Does Not Rule Out Late-Season Grid Penalty

Max Verstappen has not ruled out the possibility of taking a grid penalty before the end of the season for exceeding his car's power unit component allocation.

The four-time champion, who won the last two races in Malaysia and Singapore, has effectively reached the limit of his permitted parts for the campaign. This means introducing any further components will result in at least a 10-place grid drop.

"Potentially, we will have to take a penalty at some point, yes. But there is no set date for it yet. So we'll just see how things play out," Verstappen commented.

Unlike the Dutchman, his teammate Isack Hadjar has already served several penalties, including in Singapore two weeks ago. The French driver has gone through as many as eight internal combustion engines out of the allowed four. Hadjar has also introduced extra parts across other power unit elements since the start of the season.
