Real Madrid has issued an official statement regarding the condition of midfielder Federico Valverde. The Uruguayan was subjected to a very rough tackle by Kang-In Lee during yesterday's Madrid derby against Atlético, which "Los Blancos" lost 2-1.
The fact that the Korean player was not sent off was one of Real Madrid's most significant complaints about Miguel Ortiz's refereeing in the heated match.
"Following examinations conducted today on our player Fede Valverde by the Real Madrid medical team, he has been diagnosed with a severe left ankle injury, sustained during this afternoon's match (editor's note - yesterday). Valverde will undergo further tests in the coming hours," the club stated.
Reports indicate that Valverde's ankle is severely swollen, and the Uruguayan himself is experiencing significant pain. Additional examinations will soon be conducted to determine the exact duration of his absence from the pitch.
