Cadillac have confirmed that Valtteri Bottas is in good condition following a heavy crash just past the halfway mark of the Mexico City Grand Prix.
Bottas went off at Turn 1 after suffering a right-front suspension failure at the end of the long main straight. Fortunately, the extensive run-off area allowed the Finn to shed a significant amount of speed before hitting the barriers, although the impact remained substantial.
The incident brought out a red flag at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, and Bottas was transferred to the medical centre for precautionary checks. Fortunately, assessments revealed no serious injuries, and he was subsequently released and excused from his post-race media duties. Cadillac stated they will conduct a full investigation into the cause of the suspension failure.
"Following precautionary medical checks, Valtteri Bottas was released from the medical centre and is in good condition. "He has been excused from all post-race media commitments, including TV broadcast and print interviews. "The team will conduct a detailed investigation into the on-track incident," Cadillac said in a statement.
