Aguirre concluded his third stint as Mexico's national team coach this summer. He led "El Tri" to the Round of 16 at this year's World Cup, where they fell 3-2 to England at the Estadio Azteca.

Throughout his coaching career, he has managed six Spanish clubs, most recently Mallorca (2022-2024), where Slovak international players Martin Valjent and Dominik Greif played under him.
