Real Madrid legend Jorge Valdano, who played for the club from 1984-1987 and managed them from 1994 to 1996, has weighed in on the deal between Barcelona and Manchester City for Rodri, valued at 75 million euros.

"For me, Rodri is worth 35 million for what he brings to Barcelona, and 40 million for what he takes away from Real Madrid," Valdano stated on "Movistar Plus Deportes."

Valdano, who also served as Real Madrid's sporting director between 2000 and 2004, described Rodri Hernández's transfer as a "strategic acquisition for Barcelona."

"Rodri will impact Barcelona's play; in that regard, he's one of the best in the world. However, he won't overly influence things, although he will emphasize everything Hansi Flick proposes," the Argentine noted.

Valdano highlighted the potential impact Rodri, who was also on Real Madrid's radar but ultimately chose Barça, would have had if he had joined the capital club: "Real Madrid would have revolutionized their game and improved everything around them. The ball would have reached the forwards faster and better. This is the kind of influence players have whose effect isn't so much about goals as it is about the game itself. In that respect, he is the best player in the world," Valdano concluded.
