"Yes, there were discussions with Žalgiris and two other teams. Talks are ongoing, and we'll decide later, but the final say rests with Denver. It depends on whether they trade me or keep me on the team. That's their decision. Right now, I think their bigger question is what they'll do with the roster as a whole – who stays and who goes," the basketball player commented.

Lithuanian club Žalgiris has reportedly offered a guaranteed two-year contract worth at least 2 million euros per season.

Valančiūnas openly admitted that he had considered a return to Europe last year and was close to joining Greek powerhouse Panathinaikos. His current NBA contract with Denver expires on July 8th.

"I think everything will become clear in the first week of July, or perhaps even sooner. I want to play, enjoy the game, and win. My heart is in basketball, not in a specific city or team. We'll see which situation gives me the best chance for success," Jonas Valančiūnas noted.

"My ambition is to reach the podium somewhere, so I want to put myself in the best possible position to achieve that," added the captain of the Lithuanian national team.
