The clash between Toulouse and Troyes, originally scheduled for Saturday at 5:15 PM, will now take place 24 hours later at the same kick-off time. Toulouse is already hosting another major sporting fixture on Saturday, with the local rugby team set to face Perpignan.
"While this match is not considered high-risk, hosting an event with such large attendance requires the mobilisation of internal security and municipal police forces," stated the Haute-Garonne prefecture, the authority overseeing regional public services and safety.
Ligue 2 has also seen schedule adjustments, with the fixture between Montpellier and Parisian outfit Red Star pushed back from Saturday to Monday for the same reason.
Some of the worst civil unrest France has witnessed in years broke out last Saturday amid nationwide demonstrations over the rising cost of living. Authorities have since imposed partial movement restrictions in parts of Paris and other cities, including Toulouse, to deter further violence.
On Tuesday, security forces were on high alert at the Parc des Princes in Paris during the Champions League clash between Paris Saint-Germain and FC Barcelona (4-2). PSG are set to return to the same venue on Sunday to host Lyon in Ligue 1 action.
