According to well-informed NBA insider Shams Charania, the incident unfolded on a practice court within the Las Vegas complex. Tensions escalated when a visibly agitated Adebayo approached his former teammate while observing an AAU youth game.
The reason for the Miami center's complete loss of control and aggressive reaction stems from public taunts made by Herro on social media, shortly after his trade to the Milwaukee Bucks. Tyler publicly criticized Adebayo's lucrative contract, signed in the summer of 2024, which guarantees him $166 million over three seasons.
"- You should be making $60 million a year just to occasionally play elite defense? Just thinking out loud…" Herro wrote, and those words ultimately led to the altercation.
Adebayo subsequently knocked him out, and after the player fell to the ground from the blow, security personnel intervened, separated the feuding players, and escorted them from the premises.
Herro had attended a Summer League game to watch the matchup between Miami and Milwaukee, his former and current teams. Before news of the scandal reached the media, he gave a TV interview in which he completely ignored the incident.
"I only feel love for Miami. I met the guys, the coaching staff, Chris Quinn, Erik Spoelstra, and the management. Everything is in excellent order. This was an ideal chance for a fresh start, and I believe everyone is happy with the outcome of the trade. Miami is a franchise that always aims for a title; it's a business. I am aware of my qualities; the only thing that matters to me is to stay healthy and help my new team in the right way."
A brief statement from the Miami Heat's front office indicated they were aware of the situation but had no comment, while the Bucks stated they would not be issuing a statement on the matter.
The NBA, however, is unlikely to remain silent on this.
