The family members of 58 people suspected to be cultists in Bayelsa State, have staged a protest asking that the suspects should not be prosecuted.

According to the Daily Post, the suspects were recently arraigned before a court on the charge of conspiracy and membership of a cult group.
In his early comments on the matter, Justice Naiyi Aganaba insisted that the suspects provide proof that they do not have any involvement in cultism in the state.
Kelvin, the father of one of the suspects, told newsmen that his son was wrongfully arrested.

He alleged that the police threatened to shoot him if he attempted to interfere in the arrest.
“When I accosted the policemen after I heard a scream for help by my son, they threatened to shoot me. They asked me what my son was doing outside after 8pm", he said.
