Tyson Fury is weighing his options for his next fight, currently slated for August, as he warms up for a proposed winter showdown with Anthony Joshua. AJ is doing the same, set to face underdog Christian Prenga on July 25th in Saudi Arabia.
According to Fury's manager, Spencer Brown, 'The Gypsy King' (35-2-1 with 24 KOs) will take on a more formidable opponent, with names like Andy Ruiz Jr. and Jarrell Miller being discussed.
"Andy Ruiz was mentioned," Brown told Seconds Out. "I know Andy very well, I know his team, and I'll be speaking with them... But there are other people, two or three other names, that were mentioned. Can Andy Ruiz get ready that quickly? Probably not. But he's someone we could look at in the future. I'd love to see Andy back; he has a lot to offer this sport."
I'll tell you who was mentioned — and quite insistently — it's Jarrell Miller. Tyson wanted to fight Jarrell Miller. We could have made that deal very quickly. Jarrell was ready, Tyson was ready. But I think Jarrell is currently on tour, doing some things in other countries. We'll find someone and decide who it will be. It won't be some complete unknown; it will be a well-regarded opponent."
Earlier this month, Ruiz, who hasn't fought since 2024, outlined his fight plan for Fury if he ever gets the chance to face him.
"Speed, pressure, and throwing combinations," Ruiz said. "You know, the head moves, but the body stays there, so all my punches will be there — to the chest, stomach, head, everywhere. If I fight him, I think I'll be too much for him. Even though many people say Fury will outbox me, people need to remember they haven't seen me when I fight against really good opponents. That's when I come out like a beast, especially when I'm in shape."
