Two Ligue 1 Clubs Reject Chance to Sign Raheem Sterling

English forward Raheem Sterling has been offered to two Ligue 1 clubs, but both turned down the opportunity, according to French outlet Foot Mercato. One of the teams was Le Havre, whose hierarchy concluded they already have sufficient attacking options and have no need for the 31-year-old. An undisclosed second French side reached the exact same decision.

Sterling is currently a free agent following the end of his spell with Dutch giants Feyenoord, where he registered one assist across eight appearances during the 2025/26 campaign. Throughout his career, the winger has represented Premier League heavyweights Liverpool, Manchester City, and Chelsea. He is a four-time Premier League champion and has earned 82 caps for the Three Lions.

Off-the-pitch issues have also become a major stumbling block for prospective suitors. On September 15, Sterling pleaded guilty to charges of dangerous driving and possession of nitrous oxide following a traffic collision involving a Lamborghini in May. Although no one was injured and proceedings were subsequently dropped, the incident dealt a significant blow to the player's reputation.
