England manager Thomas Tuchel has outlined his strategy for neutralizing Argentine superstar Lionel Messi ahead of their World Cup semi-final clash, scheduled for tonight at 10:00 PM.
“We are fully aware that we cannot stop him constantly and 100%. He is a completely different player from Erling Haaland, but we dealt with Erling very well in our own way, so we will find a way now too,” Tuchel stated.
“I think this will be the first time I personally face him as a team coach. It’s simply incredible how he always finds a way out of situations, and in so many different ways. He finds open spaces, he finds the right moments, and in my opinion, the key is that the entire team shares this idea. They support him, help him, and are ready for him to step in and change the course of the game. Of course, we will prepare for that,” the German specialist added.
“Can we prepare, find a recipe, and obsess over it? No, but we have to be brave, we have to be bold, we have to cut off the support to Messi and monitor all movements that happen when he has the ball,” Tuchel concluded.
