India hosts it's first ever Instagram exhibition
India is holding its first ever Instagram photography exhibition in Kolkata.
Titled Bengal's Diversity in Pictures, the exhibition features the work of 17 Instagrammers who capture stories from the eastern Indian state.
The images were curated with the help of the local community Calcutta Instagrammers, and they are being displayed as life-sized Instagram posts placed inside a frame.
The event which started yesterday January 7th will continue through to January 9th.
Subjects of the photographs range from landscapes and wildlife from the Sundarban mangroves, festivals such as Holi, Ramzan and Durga Puja to quiet moments from everyday life such as a waiter carrying a tray in Kolkata's historic Indian Coffee House, and local children jumping into the Ganges river in front of the city's Howrah bridge.
The pictures were taken by both professional photographers and amateurs.
The Calcutta Instagrammers group was founded by Sammyabrata Mullick 6 months ago as a "repository of pictures of Bengal" and has over 2,100 followers.
