Paris Saint-Germain, under the guidance of Luís Campos, continues its pursuit of Portuguese talent, with midfielder Mateus Fernandes now reportedly in their sights. According to Footmercato, initial contact has already been made between the Parisian club and the player's representatives.

Since Campos' arrival, the French club has bolstered its Portuguese contingent with names like Vitinha, Gonçalo Ramos, João Neves, and Nuno Mendes. Mateus Fernandes could be the next to join this list, seen as the ideal successor to the former FC Porto star.

The 21-year-old attacking midfielder is a key figure for Nuno Espírito Santo's West Ham. He quickly established himself despite arriving in the summer, racking up 30 starts in 31 Premier League games. This season, the newly capped Portuguese international, who has one senior cap, has registered three goals and three assists.

A product of Sporting's academy, Fernandes had his first Premier League experience in 2024 with Southampton. Following the Saints' relegation, the Hammers secured his signing last summer for 44 million euros, tying him down until 2030. However, another potential relegation could lead to (and facilitate) another sale.
