Manchester United has informed Atalanta that they will not proceed with the signing of Éderson, leading to a surprising twist in the transfer market. The Brazilian midfielder, who had already undergone medical examinations, will now return to Bergamo.

Despite an agreement reportedly being in place between the two clubs, valued at around 45 million euros according to English and Italian press outlets, Manchester United decided to withdraw. They informed Atalanta that they would not finalize the deal after the player completed the second part of his medical tests.

Éderson had already completed the first phase of his medicals before joining the Brazilian national team for the World Cup. He was a last-minute call-up to replace the injured Wesley. Following Brazil's exit from the tournament, the midfielder was expected to complete his transfer, a move that now appears unlikely.

As he prepared to travel to the United States, Éderson told Tuttosport that his move to Old Trafford and the Premier League was "practically all done."

United continues to face difficulties in strengthening their squad for the new season, having also lost out on Elliot Anderson to Manchester City. Meanwhile, the Red Devils are reportedly attempting to secure the signing of Andrey Santos from Chelsea.
