Transfer Market: Another Star Signs on a Free, But Many Remain Unattached (Photos)

Another star player has secured a new club for the upcoming season, avoiding unemployment. Thomas Meunier, the Belgian international right-back, who recently concluded his spell with Ligue 1 side Lille, has signed with Premier League club Sunderland. This move marks his first experience playing in England.

The 34-year-old defender has penned a two-year deal, having also been in negotiations with Valencia.

Meunier joins a growing list of top players making free transfers this season. Among the most high-profile names are Bernardo Silva and Konaté, both of whom have moved to Real Madrid.

While many players have already found new homes for the new season, an equal, if not greater, number remain unattached, awaiting decisions on their futures. This group includes Morita, who departed Sporting, and Luuk de Jong, who left FC Porto.
