Tahirys dos Santos, a promising young talent from Metz's academy, has inked his first professional contract. This milestone carries particular significance, coming after he survived a tragic fire earlier this year in Crans-Montana, an incident that claimed 41 lives and injured 119.

The player, born in 2006 in Mont-Saint-Martin, was among the victims, sustaining burns to 30% of his body. However, his heroic actions during the tragedy did not go unnoticed. "Without thinking, I turned back and ran to find Coline. There was no way I was leaving without her," the youngster recalled, describing his return into the flames to rescue his girlfriend.

Despite his heroism, his girlfriend, Coline, suffered more severe injuries. While Tahirys, with burns to his back, arm, and neck, required only one surgery, Coline underwent three operations and spent three weeks in a coma. "I have to relearn how to walk and eat. It's hard for me to grasp the magnitude of what happened, but my scars constantly remind me," Coline confessed.

Now, the captain of Metz's reserve team, which competes in the French fifth division, sees his childhood dream come true by signing as a professional. "I am very happy and proud to sign my first professional contract with my childhood club," declared the left-back.

The player acknowledges that this moment is the culmination of a long journey. "This is the result of many years of hard work, sacrifice, and determination to achieve my childhood dream. This moment holds even more special meaning after the difficult months I spent in the hospital," he emphasized.

Finally, Tahirys dos Santos offered a message of hope to all other victims of the fire: "This tough experience has made me stronger and taught me never to give up. I want to send all my support to those who continue to fight. Never lose hope!"
