Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly close to finalizing negotiations with Roberto De Zerbi, according to English media outlets.

Reports indicate that discussions between both parties have been "positive," and the former Brighton and Marseille manager is highly likely to become the new Spurs boss soon.

Tottenham is said to be offering the Italian tactician an exceptionally attractive financial package, which would make him the second, or at worst, the third highest-paid manager in the Premier League, as reported by the "Daily Mail" and journalists Ben Jacobs and Fabrizio Romano.

De Zerbi himself initially didn't consider the current timing ideal and was thought to prefer taking over the team in the summer. However, he has reportedly received assurances from the board of directors regarding full support, leading him to agree to take charge immediately. His proposed contract, as already known, will be long-term – for five years. Furthermore, his contract includes a release clause in the event of Tottenham's relegation.

De Zerbi is the top target for the "Spurs," who are desperately trying to avoid a catastrophic relegation amidst a dreadful season that has already seen managers Thomas Frank and Igor Tudor dismissed.

Tottenham remains in peril, currently sitting in 17th position, just above the relegation zone with 30 points and only one point more than city rivals West Ham. The "Spurs" have been without a league win for 13 consecutive matches.
