Singer decries the lack of music promoters in the industry

The singer and mum  who was one of the entertainment icons to attend the fourth edition of the Nigerian Entertainment Conference held at the Landmark Event Centre, Lagos decried the lack of professional music promoters in the Nigerian music industry.

The Mavin singer was part of a 7-man panel speaking during “Entertainment Industry As Last Hope of Africa’s Largest Economy”, where she spoke on the challenges Nigerian artistes face in promoting their music.

According to Goldmyne TV, She spoke about how as an artiste she had to stay in the good books of OAPs and DJs to ensure that they play her songs.

Tiwa cited examples of music promoters in the UK which are called ‘music pluggers’ who help artistes plug their songs on radio and also ensure the songs are in constant rotation.

The pop singer said “Here in Nigeria, we artistes have to take our CDs to radio stations ourselves. We tend to build relationships with OAPs and DJs. We always ensure that we send messages to them on their birthdays because many of us believe that if we don’t do that, they might not play our songs.”

Savage released her sophomore album R.E.D in 2015, and has been since promoting it through the hashtag #IamRED on social media, and specially via a meme generator promoted on a dedicated website i-am-red.com.

She has also gone touring in some African countries and currently heading to the United States of America  to promote the album which also has a deluxe edition out with singles like 'Bang Bang' remix featuring Psquare and 'Bad' featuring Wizkid.
