The outcome of this clash could significantly influence who claims the Ligue 1 title in the 2025/2026 season. PSG currently holds a one-point lead over Lens in the standings, with a game in hand.

Strasbourg also had their request granted; they were set to play Brest on April 12th. According to L'Equipe, both rescheduled matches will now take place on May 13th.
