Tinubu has exceeded my expectations - Afenifere leader Fasoranti

President Bola Tinubu has received high praise from Yoruba elder statesman and leader of Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, who declared that the President has so far exceeded expectations in his stewardship of the nation.

The 98-year-old made the remark on Thursday during a courtesy visit by First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu to his Akure residence, Ondo State. The visit was part of her two-day working tour to the South-West state.

In a statement by his media aide, Busola Kukoyi, Pa Fasoranti expressed deep satisfaction with Tinubu’s leadership so far. “I am satisfied with what he is doing in Nigeria. Well done,” he said warmly, blessing the President and commending the First Lady for her advocacy.

Senator Tinubu, in response, described Pa Fasoranti as a father figure to both herself and her husband. She conveyed greetings from the President and said the visit was an informal show of respect and affection.

The visit came amid a packed agenda as the First Lady launched multiple projects under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI). She met with over 60 traditional rulers, led by the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi. The monarchs gave their nod to Tinubu’s administration and backed his possible re-election.

At The Dome in Akure, Senator Tinubu handed over 10,000 medical scrubs and 10,000 pairs of crocs to midwives across the South-West; a move aimed at strengthening frontline healthcare delivery.

She also presented a N50 million grant to the wife of Ondo State Governor, Mrs. Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa, for disbursement to 1,000 petty traders under RHI’s Small Business Recapitalisation Programme. Another 200 women received bales of fabric to support their ventures.

Speaking at the event, the First Lady hailed the dedication of healthcare workers and encouraged them to pursue continuous learning. She said the kits would support the federal government's ongoing retraining programme for 120,000 health workers — noting that nearly half had already completed it.

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa expressed appreciation for federal interventions in the state, including the upgrade of Adeyemi College to a university and the establishment of a new Air Force school in Akure.
