After a major slump in the second quarter allowed the hosts to claw their way back into the game, force overtime, and threaten a complete turnaround, Spartak Subotica found a way to prevail in the extra five minutes. Both teams entered the matchup level at 2-2, with Spartak considered slight favourites. The opening quarter justified those expectations, as the visitors completely outplayed the hosts.
Mega managed just 14 points in the opening ten minutes while Spartak poured in 30. A 16-point advantage, which had stretched to 18 at one point during the opening frame, suggested the visitors were cruising toward a routine victory.
However, the hosts showed a completely different face in the second quarter. Mega stepped up offensively, with Vojinovic, Paunov, and Lucic spearheading the resurgence. The home side took the quarter 30-20, cutting Spartak's lead to just six points at the break (50-44).
Mega continued to chip away at the deficit early in the third quarter. A 10-3 run handed them the lead, sparking a back-and-forth stretch where the teams traded blows in a tight contest. Spartak scored six unanswered points late in the third to regain control, but the period ended 25-25, leaving the overall margin unchanged.
The final ten minutes turned into a fierce battle. Mega gradually erased the six-point deficit before Mihailo Boskovic drained a clutch three-pointer to tie the game at 94-94, ramping up the tension in the closing moments. Spartak had the final possession of regulation to win it, but failed to convert, sending the clash into overtime.
The hosts opened the extra period with another three-pointer from Boskovic, threatening to cap off a remarkable comeback. However, Spartak answered when it mattered most. Drobnjak, Cerovina, and Nikolic took charge, showing composure down the stretch to reclaim the lead and seal the win.
