Only three new regular season NBA games were played overnight from April 4th to 5th (Saturday into Sunday).

Following these matchups, the Oklahoma City Thunder continue to lead the Western Conference with a 61-16 record, while the Detroit Pistons top the Eastern Conference with 57 wins and 21 losses.

Neither team can now be dislodged from their respective top spots.

Two of the games tipped off before midnight, both starting at 10:00 PM Bulgarian time. In one thrilling contest, the Denver Nuggets and San Antonio Spurs couldn't be separated in regulation, ending 48 minutes of play tied at 124 points apiece. The Nuggets ultimately prevailed in overtime, securing a 136-134 victory (36:43, 29:29, 27:24, 32:28, 12:10). This loss effectively ended the Spurs' hopes of claiming the top seed in the Western Conference, as they now trail leaders Oklahoma by five wins with four games remaining in the regular season. Denver, on the other hand, has secured a top-six spot in the same conference and can still challenge the LA Lakers for third place.

In the other simultaneous game, an all-Eastern Conference affair, the Miami Heat emerged victorious in a high-scoring spectacle against the Washington Wizards, winning 152-136 (36:32, 41:25, 45:34, 30:45). The capital city team remains at the bottom of the standings, marking their fifth consecutive defeat. The Heat, meanwhile, continue their battle for the eighth seed, holding a 41-37 record, while the current eighth-placed Charlotte Hornets stand at 42-36.

The sole game that started in the early hours of the new day, at 2:00 AM, was also an all-Eastern Conference clash. The Detroit Pistons, the conference leaders, dominated the Philadelphia 76ers on the road, securing a 116-93 victory (41:31, 30:29, 24:21, 21:12). This defeat prevented Philadelphia from climbing into the top six, especially as Toronto, currently above the playoff line, has a game in hand, meaning the gap between the two teams could widen further soon.

Today, April 5th (Sunday), will feature four more games, all starting at 10:30 PM Bulgarian time. These are part of a new schedule that extends into tomorrow, April 6th (Monday), and includes a total of 11 matchups. The Western Conference leaders, Oklahoma City Thunder, will also be in action, hosting the Utah Jazz at 2:00 AM.
