Gay Imam Weds Lesbian Muslim Couple From Iran

Lesbian couple, Sahar Mosleh and Maryam Iranfar tied the knot after nine years together and were joined by an Imam who is also gay.

The couple both came from Iran – a country where same-sex marriage is punishable by death.

Their big day took place in Stockholm, capital of Sweden.

Iranfar is expecting the couple’s first child and Sahar, suffers from congenital brittle bones.

Imam Ludovid Mohamed Zahed based in South Africa has become household name among LGBT activists from Muslim countries.

In Iran, the pair would have faced a penalty of 50 lashes for the first time they were caught together, a punishment that would have been repeated on a further two occasions.

The death penalty would be applied if they had been caught together a fourth time.
