Real Madrid defender Éder Militão has finally returned to full training alongside his teammates. The Brazilian rejoined the group today, exactly five months after undergoing surgery and receiving the green light following a successful medical assessment by his operating surgeon.
It has been an eventful and joyful period for the centre-back. On Saturday, he celebrated the birth of his second child, and barely 40 hours later, he was already back at the training ground. Militão took part in the first session of the week alongside players who were not involved in recent matchday action or are recovering from minor fitness issues, as is also the case with Mbappé for the 2026/27 season.
This marks the end of a grueling ordeal that started on April 28, when he went under the knife for a torn biceps femoris tendon. The initial five-month recovery forecast proved completely accurate—exactly on September 28, or 153 days later, he was back working on the grass with the rest of the squad.
Last week, Finnish surgeon Lasse Lempainen, who performed the operation in April, visited the defender at the Valdebebas training complex. The specialist travelled to Madrid to closely oversee the final stages of the rehabilitation process.
Since August, Militão had been working tirelessly alongside Endrick on an adjacent pitch, carrying out daily drills designed to rebuild flexibility, agility, strength, and speed. The steady progression in intensity delivered great results, allowing the Brazilian to pass the doctor's final physical tests with flying colours.
Lempainen himself shared his satisfaction with the defender's progress on social media:
“A great day in Madrid with Éder Militão and the Real Madrid medical staff. The entire day was dedicated to his return, as Éder continues to progress right on schedule after surgery on a severe tendon injury. It was a pleasure to contribute our expertise to his return-to-play process, with the ultimate goal of ensuring a safe return to elite-level competition. Many thanks to Éder and the entire Real Madrid team for the fantastic collaboration and successful day. Returning to the pitch is a major milestone, but the ultimate goal is achieving peak match fitness.”
