The annual event was hosted by Wole Ojo and Mo' Cheddah. Also, Dorcas Shola-Fapson and DJ Obi were supporting hosts at the event as well.

Nigerian pop star Davido performed along with songstress Simi. President-elect of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo gave a keynote address at The Future Awards 2016.

Other notable personalities who showed up were Rotimi Amaechi, Dr Kayode Fayemi, Governor Rauf Aregbesola, Mrs Obiageli Ezekwesili, and Mrs Ibukun Awosika.

The awards had a football theme which was clearly displayed throughout the event.

The Future Awards Africa Prize For Young Person Of The Year went to Mark Okoye and The Future Awards Africa Prize For Music was won by Yemi Alade.

Other notable winners on the night were Bolanle Oluknanni, Tosin Ajibade, Chika Oduah, and Bukola Bolariwa.

While the night was filled with fun and excitement it must be said that the 11th edition of The Future Awards did not start on time, nearly two hours late.
