Scheduled to hold from 6th to 10th December 2016, in Soweto, South Africa, the Abantu book festival will be a five-day experience of readings, discussions, music and other forms of storytelling, as well as workshops and film screenings.

The impressive lineup of people coming includes award-winning Nigerian author Chika Unigwe, Kenyan blogger James Murua, Etisalat prize for Literature winner NoViolet Bulawayo, Nigerian Yewande Omotoso and other award-winning local and international authors.

Panashe Chigumadzi, author of Sweet Medicine and the festival’s curator, told BooksLive South Africa:

"In this lineup we find depth and variety. Some of our authors have been telling stories for as long as others have been alive, while others have just begun but are bringing incredible innovations to the art. Together with our storytellers, we’ll be looking black to the future.
