The longest and largest football championship in history will crown its king today. Sunday evening (July 19) belongs to the monumental final, where European football virtuosos from Spain and South American defending champions from Argentina, led by Lionel Messi, will battle for the golden trophy.

Slovak fans can look forward to an unforgettable sporting experience at an ideal broadcast time of 9:00 PM. As this is the event of the year, the live broadcast, featuring elaborate pre-match studios, will be offered simultaneously by four television networks and two online platforms in Slovakia. Who will broadcast the match directly from the venue, and which Slovak football legend has been invited?

The decisive match of the entire tournament is hosted by the iconic MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford (New Jersey, near New York), and the battle for the world throne has demanded maximum effort from Slovak broadcasters. Viewers will be able to choose between two completely different editorial approaches: commentary directly from the stadium or analysis from the all-time leading scorer of the Slovak national team.

STVR: Legendary Merčiak Live in New York and Broadcast on Jednotka

Slovak Television and Radio (STVR) will offer football fans traditional, time-tested service with an exceptionally strong commentary team. The public broadcaster will launch its final studio on Sunday from 7:50 PM, and a major new feature is that the live broadcast will air simultaneously on the main channel Jednotka and the STVR Šport program circuit.

The biggest draw for the public television is the presence of commentators directly at the match venue. Marcel Merčiak and co-commentator Marián Zeman will be behind the commentary microphone at New York's MetLife Stadium for the championship's climax.

For Marcel Merčiak, this marks another significant milestone in his rich career, as he has been guiding STVR viewers through football championships since the mid-1990s.
