A Texas court has dismissed the weapons possession charge against Cleveland Cavaliers guard James Harden, Reuters reports.

Harden, who turns 37 at the end of the month, was arrested on June 13 after Houston police found a pistol without a holster in his car. The offense carries a penalty of up to one year in prison and a fine of up to $4,000.

A Harris County judge dismissed the charge after Harden completed an alternative resolution program, according to court documents. The court documents do not provide details of the agreement with the basketball player, which typically includes community service.

Harden, an 11-time NBA All-Star, finished the playoffs averaging 19.2 points and 5.5 assists, helping his team reach the Eastern Conference Finals, where they fell to the reigning champion New York Knicks.

He has averaged 24.0 points, 7.3 assists, and 5.6 rebounds in 1221 games (1007 starts) with six teams since entering the NBA in 2009. Harden concluded the 2025/2026 season with Cleveland. He declined a $42.3 million player option earlier this summer and is currently negotiating a multi-year contract with the Cavaliers.
