The Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the San Antonio Spurs 123-108 this Friday, taking a 2-1 lead in the Western Conference Finals. This marked the Thunder's first victory of the season at the Frost Bank Center, where they had previously lost both encounters.
Despite an overwhelming start by the Spurs, who surged to a 15-0 lead in under three minutes, the Thunder managed to claw their way back into the game, particularly during Victor Wembanyama's rest periods.
With the Thunder's bench proving decisive, contributing a remarkable 79 points, the comeback was complete by the start of the second quarter, as they led 58-51 at halftime. The Spurs were unable to counter the visitors' superiority, who continued to extend their lead throughout the remainder of the game.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder with 26 points and 12 assists, while Jared McCain added 24 points. Jaylin Williams and Alex Caruso chipped in with 18 and 15 points, respectively.
For the Spurs, who saw the return of De'Aaron Fox and Dylan Harper, Victor Wembanyama scored 26 points. Devin Vassell contributed 20, De'Aaron Fox had 15, and Stephon Castle added 14.
The game was also marked by moments of tension between the latter (referring to Victor Wembanyama) and Ajay Mitchell and Alex Caruso.
Game four of the Western Conference Finals is scheduled for this Sunday in San Antonio.
