This has seen the team move from to 62 to 67 in their position among world national teams.

As a result, they are now 14th in Africa as against their 11th position in March 2016.

They also now have 534 points as against the 547 points they garnered in March.

The development might affect their Russia 2018 World Cup qualifiers as only the top five teams in the continent can be seeded for the competition.

Algeria, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Senegal and Egypt are currently the top five teams in Africa.

The Super Eagles, who lost their recent AFCON qualifying match against Egypt have serious work on their hands if they hope to get back to being one of Africa’s football elite.
