Kelechi Nwakali's woes continue as Huesca terminate his contract
Spanish second division side Huesca have terminated the contract of Super Eagles star Kelechi Nwakali.
Huesca released a statement on their social media pages, stating they have decided to end their association with the 23-year-old.
The Spanish side did not explain why they decided to end the Nigerian's contract, but the two parties have been at loggerheads for a while.
Huesca fined the former Golden Eaglets captain after he returned late from the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
Nwakali represented Nigeria at the 2021 AFCON but only returned to his club one week after the Super Eagles crashed out in the second round.
The Spanish Players' Union criticised Huesca's decision to fine Nwakali, but it appears that has not stopped the second division side from deciding to terminate Nwakali's deal.
Nwakali's contract at the club expires in June, but Huesca has now ended it two months before time.
It is another setback for the Nigerian international, who has had a troubled time in his .young career as a professional player.
Nwakali came into the limelight after leading Nigeria's Golden Eaglets to the FIFA u17 World Cup in 2015.
The 23-year-old joined Arsenal after the competition but failed to make a first-team appearance, going out on several loan stints.
At a time, he was without a club for three months before joining Huesca on a permanent deal in September 2019.
He also had a short spell with Alcorcon while at Huesca. Nwakali made 21 appearances in all competitions for Huesca this season before the termination of his contract.
