Uruguayan Pointman Luis Suarez who yesterday was billed to have a corrective surgery to his torn knee, may after all look up to playing in the World Cup as the surgery carried out on him was successful, so confirmed the Uruguay Football Association (UFA) and the striker has promised that he would work hard to be at the World Cup Finals.

The UFA confirmed in a statement that the striker's ''participation in the World Cup in Brazil is not ruled out.'' Luis Suarez may have sustained the injury at the final day of the premiership season after a challenge from Welsh International and Newcastle defender Paul Dummett for which the Welshman has since received lots of death threats from Uruguay football fans.

Mother of the 27 year-old Liverpool striker who was taking care of the striker's children while he was in hospital, told the AP that her son had a successful cartilage repair surgery on his knee.

"The surgery is over and thank God everything went well. What Luis had wasn't as serious as we thought," Suarez's mother, Sandra Diaz commented.

"He's very well. He's going to play the World Cup," Diaz emphasized.

Luis Suarez was pictured in a wheelchair while leaving the hospital after the successful surgery in his home country of Uruguay, he now faces a tough time waiting to see that his recovery is quick and painless for the World Cup.
