Strasbourg has secured the services of young Real Madrid forward Jacobo Ortega, who has signed a five-year deal with the French club. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Spanish giants will receive €10 million, plus a 30% sell-on clause for any future transfer of the player.
"Racing Club de Strasbourg is delighted to announce the arrival of Jacobo Ortega. The Spanish forward has signed a contract with the club until 2031," Strasbourg stated in a communiqué, without disclosing the transfer fee for the footballer.
Ortega is a product of Real Madrid's academy, having joined at the age of 12. He progressed through all youth categories before becoming the top scorer for the U19 team, with whom he won the UEFA Youth League last season.
In a video posted by Strasbourg on social media platform X, the 190 cm tall forward, who is yet to make his professional debut, expressed his hope to "write a beautiful chapter" in the history of the club, which is celebrating its 120th anniversary this season.
The Spanish goalscorer is Strasbourg's eleventh summer signing. The club has been focusing primarily on young talents since its acquisition in 2023 by BlueCo, an American consortium that also owns Chelsea.
