Sporting's women's team is set to compete in a triangular tournament this Saturday at the Clube Albergaria Training and Development Centre in the Aveiro district. Their opening match kicks off at 3:00 PM against Ouriense, followed by a second fixture at 5:30 PM against the host team. Micael Sequeira's squad continues their preparations for the league opener, scheduled for the weekend of September 12th, against V. Guimarães.
It's worth noting that in early August, the 'Lionesses' were knocked out of the Women's Champions League qualifiers, losing on penalties to Austrian side SKN St. Polten.
Nevertheless, last Sunday, the green and white team secured a positive 1-1 draw in a friendly against England's London City Lionesses — a club featuring Spanish star Alexia Putellas. The Sporting goal was scored by Madeiran forward Telma Encarnação.
